Decathlon to acquire 50% stake in Sport 2000 France

Decathlon has announced a strategic partnership to acquire a 50% stake in Sport 2000 France, the purchasing center for the Céraclès Coopérative. The deal, which could be finalized by 2027, is subject to approval from the French Competition Authority.

Unlike a traditional retail takeover, Decathlon will not purchase the individual Sport 2000 stores. Those locations will remain under the control of independent merchants, maintaining their autonomy. Instead, the acquisition focuses on the central purchasing organization, which manages logistics, marketing, and product offerings.

The move is intended to expand Decathlon's reach into rural areas and mountain resorts where its current presence is limited. By combining Decathlon's industrial scale and product design capabilities with the agility of the Sport 2000 cooperative network, the companies aim to strengthen their market position. The purchasing center reported a turnover of 98 million euros and a net profit of 215,000 euros in 2025.
