Declan Clausen returns as Newcastle Deputy Lord Mayor

Declan Clausen has returned to the role of Deputy Lord Mayor of Newcastle for a one-year term. This appointment marks Clausen’s eighth year serving in the position, the longest tenure in the city’s history.

Clausen, a Labor councillor who has served on the council for over 11 years, succeeds Greens councillor Charlotte McCabe. Lord Mayor Gavin Morris expressed gratitude to McCabe for her service, noting she managed significant additional responsibilities during a difficult period following the resignation of former Lord Mayor Ross Kerridge due to health issues.

Clausen stated he looks forward to continuing his work with Lord Mayor Morris to serve the community.
