Declan Devine leaves Glentoran after two and a half years
Glentoran Football Club has announced that manager Declan Devine is leaving the club by mutual consent after two and a half years in charge. The departure comes during a difficult start to the Danske Bank Premiership season.
Devine’s tenure was characterized by efforts to rebuild the squad and establish a specific playing philosophy. However, recent inconsistent performances and a lack of on-field success despite significant investment have led the club to seek a new direction. Owner Ali Pour had previously noted the pressure to deliver results, highlighting that the manager had been provided with a hand-picked squad and one of the largest budgets in the league.
The club expressed gratitude for Devine’s dedication and the work of his coaching staff. The decision follows a period of struggle for the East Belfast side, including a recent exit from European competition and several losses to domestic rivals.
