DECO PROteste study reveals insurance transparency levels in Portugal
A study on insurance transparency released by DECO PROteste has evaluated consumer satisfaction across automobile, multi-risk home, and health insurance sectors. The findings indicate that while insurers continue to attract customers, they have not yet achieved levels of excellence, with the highest score reaching only 7.2 out of 10.
In the health insurance category, Multicare and Médis led with 7.2 points, followed by Allianz and Fidelidade with 6.9 points. For multi-risk home insurance, Fidelidade ranked highest with 6 points, followed by ok! seguros at 5.7 and Ageas at 5. In the automobile sector, Fidelidade led with 6.5 points, followed by Mapfre (6.2), Zurich (6.1), and ok! seguros (6).
Soraia Franco Leite, Institutional Relations Director at DECO PROteste, noted that the insurance sector has significant room for improvement. The study identified exclusion clauses as the primary cause of consumer dissatisfaction, often due to a lack of explicit information or poor communication from mediators.
