Dedi Mulyadi proposes higher income limits for KIP Kuliah scholarship

West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi has proposed that the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology revise the maximum parental income threshold for students receiving the Kartu Indonesia Pintar (KIP) Kuliah scholarship.

Currently, eligibility is tied to the provincial minimum wage (UMP), which in West Java is approximately Rp2.3 million. Mulyadi suggested raising this limit to below Rp10 million to prevent students from dropping out due to high tuition and living costs. His proposal follows complaints from students at Universitas Padjadjaran regarding high tuition fees and the cost of living in Jatinangor.
