DEDISA presents waste-to-value research at RETASTE 2026
The Intermunicipal Solid Waste Management Company (DEDISA) participated in the 6th International RETASTE Conference, held in Rethymno from September 16 to 18, 2026. The conference, themed ‘Rethink Food Resources, Losses, and Waste 2026’, was held under the auspices of the Municipality of Rethymno.
DEDISA presented a scientific poster regarding the ‘CircLandfill’ research project. This project details a comprehensive approach to utilizing the organic fraction of municipal solid waste and pre-selected bio-waste. The research explores converting these waste streams into value-added products, including biogenic chemical compounds, biodegradable polymers, adhesives, compost, and biochar.
The RETASTE conference is an annual international scientific forum co-organized by Crete University and Harokopio University. It serves as a platform for researchers, academic institutions, and waste management entities to share technological applications and best practices regarding the food supply chain, nutrient recovery, and circular economy principles.
