Deebo Samuel to miss weeks with hamstring injury
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel is expected to miss at least several weeks due to a hamstring injury sustained during a 32-29 victory over the Seattle Seahawks. Head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed the injury, noting that Samuel “got it pretty good.”
This injury further depletes an already struggling 49ers receiving corps. The team is currently without several key players, including Ricky Pearsall, who underwent season-ending knee surgery; De’Zhaun Stribling, who is sidelined with an ankle injury; Demarcus Robinson, who is on injured reserve with a high ankle sprain; and Christian Kirk, who has been out since the start of training camp.
With Samuel sidelined, the 49ers will rely on Mike Evans, veteran Brandin Cooks, and players like Jordan Watkins and Jacob Cowing. Shanahan indicated that while the loss is a “huge challenge,” the team believes they have enough depth on the active roster and practice squad to manage the situation.
