Deebo Samuel rejoins San Francisco 49ers

Deebo Samuel has rejoined the San Francisco 49ers following a one-year stint with the Washington Commanders. The move comes as the 49ers face significant depth issues at wide receiver due to injuries to Ricky Pearsall, who is undergoing season-ending knee surgery, and Christian Kirk, who has been sidelined with a calf injury.

Samuel signed a one-year contract worth up to $7 million, much of which is incentive-based. He cited the team culture established by John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan as a primary reason for his return. Teammate Trent Williams expressed optimism regarding Samuel's motivation, suggesting that the adversity faced during his time in Washington could lead to a highly productive season in San Francisco.

Samuel will reunite with quarterback Brock Purdy, with whom he previously played during the team's NFC Championship and Super Bowl runs.
