Deebo Samuel rejoins San Francisco 49ers on one-year deal

Wide receiver Deebo Samuel has returned to the San Francisco 49ers on a one-year deal following a stint with the Washington Commanders. Offensive coordinator Klay Kubiak noted that while Samuel is in great physical shape and remains an explosive player, he is currently working to catch up on offensive schemes missed during his time away.

To manage his workload, the team plans to utilize Samuel in multiple roles, leveraging his versatility. General manager John Lynch indicated that Samuel has also committed to contributing on special teams as a kick returner, a role tied to specific production incentives in his contract.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan addressed previous contract tensions, stating that any past friction during negotiations has been resolved through direct communication. Shanahan emphasized the strong personal relationship between the player and the organization, noting that the team has moved past previous negotiating period disputes.
