Deebo Samuel shines in 49ers return against Rams

Deebo Samuel recorded a strong performance in his return to the San Francisco 49ers during a Week 1 game against the Los Angeles Rams in Melbourne, Australia. In the 27-7 victory, Samuel contributed 6 receptions for 48 receiving yards, 12 rushing yards, and 74 kick return yards, including a touchdown. He also caught a 15-yard touchdown pass from Brock Purdy in the fourth quarter.

Samuel’s return follows a one-year stint with the Washington Commanders. After signing a one-year, $7 million contract to rejoin San Francisco, he is nearing a franchise milestone. He currently has 5,935 scrimmage yards with the 49ers and requires 65 more yards to become the 12th player in team history to reach the 6,000-yard mark.
