Deep Yellow defers Tumas uranium project investment decision
Deep Yellow has announced it will defer its Final Investment Decision (FID) for the Tumas uranium project in Namibia beyond the fourth quarter of 2026. The company cited challenging equity market conditions that currently constrain funding options for uranium developers, despite strong global market fundamentals.
While the broader investment decision is postponed, construction momentum continues at the site. Civil and concrete works are currently underway and are fully funded by existing cash reserves. Reported progress includes the installation of approximately 170 tonnes of reinforcing steel and the preparation of major concrete pouring areas for the processing plant.
Deep Yellow is also working on project optimization and an updated value model to inform future financing and development decisions. The company has also awarded A$3.7 million in local contracts to Namibian businesses for services such as fuel, water, and waste management to support ongoing construction.
