Deepak Khatri arrested at Delhi airport in connection with Lawrence Bishnoi

Delhi Police arrested Deepak Khatri, an associate of the legal team for jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, at Indira Gandhi International Airport. Khatri was intercepted following a lookout circular issued by authorities.

Khatri is suspected of acting as a link between various criminal gangs to facilitate communication. The arrest follows a February firing incident near a temple in the Yamuna Bazaar area of Delhi, in which Khatri and his associates were allegedly targeted.

A Rouse Avenue court has granted the Delhi Police crime branch three days of police custody for Khatri. The court noted the gravity of the offences, which include charges under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), extortion, and the Arms Act. The judge stated that custodial interrogation is justified as the allegations relate to national security and the nation itself. The court also noted that Khatri had been named in a similar case registered by the Special Cell in 2023.
