Deepak Ratre Killed in Kulgam Terror Attack, Chhattisgarh CM Mourns

A terrorist attack took place in the Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on August 1, 2026. Gunmen opened fire on non‑local laborers, killing 21‑year‑old Deepak Ratre from Sakti district, Chhattisgarh, and wounding another worker.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai expressed deep sorrow, describing the incident as "cowardly" and "heart‑breaking," and assured that the state government would provide all possible assistance to the victims' families and ensure medical care for the injured.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha also condemned the assault, directing senior security officials to intensify the search operation and bring the perpetrators to justice. Jammu and Kashmir police have sealed the area and launched a fresh search campaign.
