Deepinder Hooda faces expulsion demand over Sajjan Kumar comments
Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, a senior leader and MLA from the Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab, has demanded the immediate expulsion of Congress MP Deepinder Hooda from the Indian National Congress. The demand follows controversial remarks made by Hooda, in which he reportedly described Sajjan Kumar—a key figure implicated in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots—as his role model and a good person.
Dhaliwal stated that Hooda’s insensitive comments have caused deep shock and distress within the Sikh community. He has called upon Congress national leadership, including Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi, to take decisive action against Hooda.
Furthermore, Dhaliwal criticized the silence of Punjab Congress leaders regarding the matter, urging them to demonstrate their morality by protesting against Hooda. He suggested that failure to oppose these remarks would imply tacit support for anti-Sikh sentiments. Dhaliwal also alleged that the Congress party has a history of providing protection and respect to individuals associated with the 1984 violence.
