DeepSeek and Agibot discuss open-source AI and embodied intelligence
At the 2026 World Internet Conference, DeepSeek engineer Gao Xi reaffirmed the company’s commitment to an open-source strategy. Gao stated that the primary goal of open-sourcing research is to accelerate the arrival of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), noting that the industry’s true competitor is time rather than other companies. While acknowledging that open-source models present security challenges due to their irreversible nature, DeepSeek is developing management practices such as model grading to mitigate risks.
Separately, Agibot (Zhiyuan Innovation) presented its roadmap for physical AI during its Innovation Day. Co-founder and CTO Peng Zhihui outlined a five-stage evolution for robotics, moving from reliable hardware to self-evolving systems capable of participating in their own manufacturing and data production. Agibot is pursuing a full-stack development approach, integrating hardware like the AHA3 architecture and G2 Max industrial robots with software platforms like Lingqu OS. To demonstrate practical utility, Agibot recently conducted a 24-hour live trial involving six G2 robots performing diverse tasks in a convenience store setting.
