Değer Hareketi launched to strengthen tobacco control in Turkey

The Değer Hareketi, a coalition bringing together stakeholders from education, health, and environmental sectors, was officially launched in Ankara to strengthen tobacco control measures. The movement aims to promote the effective implementation of Law No. 4207 and advocate for the public's right to clean air by integrating scientific evidence, civil society advocacy, and youth participation.

During the launch, research findings conducted in collaboration with Design Araştırma were presented. The study, which surveyed 475 cafes, restaurants, and bars across Ankara, Istanbul, and Izmir, revealed significant gaps in the enforcement of smoke-free air regulations. The data indicated that approximately 75.6% of the inspected venues—nearly three out of every four establishments—violated at least one legal obligation regarding smoke-free environments.
