Deer rutting season draws visitors to Soria and Cabañeros

Autumn deer rutting season is currently active in several Spanish natural regions, drawing interest from wildlife enthusiasts. In Soria, the forests around the Sierra de Urbión, including areas near Duruelo de la Sierra, Covaleda, and Vinuesa, serve as key locations for observing the phenomenon. Visitors are encouraged to plan their trips carefully, as the presence of deer is spread across the territory rather than concentrated in a single spot.

In Cabañeros National Park, the rutting season has been slightly delayed due to high temperatures and low rainfall in September, but remains in full swing through mid-October. Director Carolina Sánchez-Molero indicates that the season is expected to continue for at least three more weeks. While some visitor facilities, such as the Casa Palillos center, are undergoing modernization, outdoor viewpoints remain open to allow visitors to observe the deer descending to the plains.
