Deering football defeats Lewiston to secure first season win

The Deering football team secured its first victory of the season with a 26-6 win over Lewiston in a Class A North game at Memorial Field. After starting the season with three losses, Deering took an early lead through a 15-yard touchdown run by junior Nathan Foley.

Deering extended their lead in the second half following a kickoff recovery, with Zack Lora scoring on a 17-yard rush. Although Lewiston managed to narrow the gap to 13-6 via a 21-yard touchdown pass from Elliot Blais to Thomas Cooper, the Blue Devils were unable to mount a comeback. Deering finalized the score with a 76-yard touchdown pass from Anthony Profenno to Matt Ciampi and another rushing touchdown by Foley.

Following the loss, Lewiston coach Justin Bisson noted that mental mistakes and a lack of football savvy contributed to the defeat, leaving the team at 0-4.

Other Maine high school football results from Friday include Bonny Eagle defeating Scarborough 42-6, Cape Elizabeth beating Telstar 40-36, and Cony winning 41-14 against Messalonskee.
