Deezer flags AI‑generated music surge while OpenAI readies AI‑powered smart speaker

Deezer reported that in June more than half of all new tracks uploaded to its platform were fully generated using artificial‑intelligence tools, amounting to around 90,000 AI‑created songs per day. The AI‑only tracks account for only one to three percent of total streams, but Deezer says 85 % of their plays are linked to manipulation attempts. The service will now remove AI songs used for fraud, exclude those with zero listens after six months from recommendations, and offer its AI‑detection technology to other industry players.

Separately, OpenAI announced development of its first consumer‑hardware product, a screen‑less smart speaker designed as an “AI companion” for the home. The device incorporates advanced versions of ChatGPT, including the new GPT‑Live voice mode, and features cameras and sensors to better understand its environment. Designed by former Apple designer Jony Ive’s studio, the speaker will be portable with a rechargeable battery and capable of standard smart‑speaker functions such as music playback and home‑automation control.
