Deezer says AI‑generated songs now make up over half of daily uploads

Deezer announced that AI‑generated tracks accounted for more than 50 % of new songs uploaded to its platform in June 2026, roughly 90 000 tracks per day. This marks a rapid rise from 44 % in April and 28 % in September 2025.

Although AI‑created music represents only 1 % to 3 % of total streams on Deezer, the company estimates that up to 85 % of those streams were generated through fraudulent schemes to manipulate royalty payments. In response, Deezer will label AI tracks, exclude them from recommendation algorithms and editorial playlists, and systematically remove any AI‑generated songs used for fraud or that have received no plays for six months or longer. CEO Alexis Lanternier said the firm has the technology to monitor the surge and protect artists’ earnings.

The move reflects growing concerns in the music‑streaming industry about the impact of synthetic content on royalties and the need for transparent labeling and fraud mitigation.
