Defendant appeals 7-year sentence for breaking into actress Nana's home

The first appellate hearing for a man in his 30s accused of breaking into the home of actress Nana and threatening her and her mother has commenced. The defendant, identified as Kim, is appealing a first-instance sentence of seven years in prison for robbery and injury.

During the hearing at the Seoul High Court, Kim’s legal team denied the charges, claiming there was a factual error and legal misunderstanding in the initial ruling. The defense argued that Kim did not possess a weapon during the incident and that the injuries sustained by the victims were minor.

The incident occurred in November last year in Guri, Gyeonggi Province, when Kim allegedly entered the residence and demanded money. While the prosecution maintains that Kim threatened the victims with a weapon, the defense continues to dispute the presence of a weapon and the intent behind the actions. The court has scheduled further proceedings to review witness requests from the defense.
