Defense attorney requests DNA comparison in Yara Gambirasio case
Claudio Salvagni, the defense attorney for Massimo Bossetti, has requested a DNA comparison between the remains of Yara Gambirasio and Moussa Sangare. Bossetti is currently serving a life sentence for the 2011 murder of the teenager.
Salvagni’s hypothesis suggests that the mitochondrial DNA found on Gambirasio’s body may belong to a third party rather than Bossetti. He argues that the certainty regarding Bossetti’s nuclear DNA is not scientifically absolute and points to the existence of nine hair samples that do not belong to the convicted man.
The defense is proposing a comparison with Moussa Sangare, the individual accused of the murder of Sharon Verzeni. Salvagni suggests that Sangare could have been involved in the Gambirasio case when he was 18 years old, citing geographical proximity and the presence of unidentified DNA traces. The defense also raised concerns regarding the destruction of certain DNA samples that had been thawed, which they claim has hindered further investigation.
