Defense firms showcase missile adapters and unmanned systems at AUSA 2026

At the AUSA 2026 annual meeting, defense technology advancements were showcased, including a missile adapter system and modular unmanned combat platforms.

Rafael's US subsidiary and Leonardo DRS presented a Multi-Purpose Missile Launcher (MPML) solution. This technology allows combat vehicles equipped with existing TOW missile launchers to fire Spike LR2 missiles. The system utilizes an adapter and onboard electronic controls to integrate the Spike LR2, which offers a ground launch range of up to 5.5 km and features day/infrared seekers with fiber-optic data links. This allows operators to track, correct, and even change targets mid-flight, providing greater flexibility in complex terrain compared to traditional semi-automatic command to line-of-sight guidance.

Additionally, Taiwanese drone manufacturer ThunderX (雷虎) participated in the exhibition with its largest booth to date. The company highlighted its focus on “Made in Taiwan” and “de-red” supply chains to appeal to US military procurement. Key showcases included the PAPADELTA mobile drone system paired with the ULTRABUGGY UGV, the SeaShark 600 armed unmanned surface vessel, and the OVERKILL FPV attack drone, which has achieved US Department of Defense Blue UAS qualification.
