Defense firms unveil integrated counter‑drone system and VULCANO guided artillery at Eurosatory

Electro Optic Systems (EOS) used the opening of the Eurosatory defence exhibition in Paris to announce the integration of its recently acquired MARSS unit into a new counter‑drone business. The combined offering includes the AI‑driven NiDAR command‑and‑control platform, the Interceptor‑MR autonomous hit‑to‑kill drone, and EOS’s existing guns and laser effectors. EOS confirmed a €10 million investment to establish a counter‑drone command hub in Nice, France, creating up to 150 jobs over three years, and reported that MARSS secured roughly €102 million in orders in May, driven by a large Middle‑East drone‑defence contract.

At the same exhibition, Diehl Defence, Leonardo and General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems celebrated the US Army’s selection of the VULCANO 155 mm Guided Long‑Range artillery projectile. The guided ammunition, developed jointly by Diehl Defence and Leonardo, combines satellite navigation with laser or infrared terminal guidance to engage stationary and moving targets at extended ranges with high accuracy. The award underscores transatlantic industrial cooperation and adds to the growing demand for precision long‑range fire solutions.
