Defense firms unveil new drone detection and counter-swarm technologies

Defense technology companies have introduced new hardware and software solutions aimed at addressing the rising threat of drone swarms and electromagnetic activity on the battlefield.

MyDefence has unveiled Wingman Edge, a wearable drone detection device weighing less than 1 kg. The system utilizes AI-powered RF spectrum analysis to identify and classify a wide range of signals, including drones, controllers, and Wi-Fi, even if they do not match existing threat signatures. The device processes intelligence at the tactical edge, allowing for autonomous analysis in environments with limited connectivity.

Skapion, a company founded in Washington and Israel, has introduced a native counter-swarm defense system. Designed by Pini Yungman, the architect of the Iron Dome, the system uses a many-to-many architecture to allow multiple interceptors to engage over one hundred targets simultaneously. The mobile, kinetic system aims for an interception rate above 97 percent and is designed for deployment from ground, airborne, and maritime platforms.
