Defense industry boom driven by rising European military spending

Defense spending across Europe is rising sharply as nations attempt to replenish ammunition stocks that have been depleted. According to analyst Pavel Ryska from J&T Banka, at current consumption rates, it could take more than a decade to fully replenish European artillery ammunition reserves.

The ongoing war in Ukraine is significantly transforming the economics of warfare, particularly through the increased role of drones and shifting battlefield dynamics. This environment has created a boom in the defense industry, impacting companies such as Czechoslovak Group (CSG) and Rheinmetall. Analysts are monitoring the sustainability of high profit margins within the sector and the potential long-term implications for defense stocks should the conflict in Ukraine reach a conclusion or escalate further.
