Defense industry expansion drives job growth and new market entries

The European defense industry is experiencing significant growth and a heightened demand for specialized talent. According to a report by TEDAE, the sector reached over 83,000 direct jobs in 2025, representing a 10.8% increase from the previous year. When including indirect and induced positions, the total employment figure reaches approximately 290,000.

To sustain this expansion and meet the European Commission’s goals for industrial capacity, there is an urgent need for professionals skilled in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, systems engineering, software development, and advanced manufacturing. Vocational training is playing an increasingly vital role, with over 30% of staff in some advanced defense companies holding vocational qualifications.

In line with this sector's expansion, Prosegur has announced its entry into the defense market through the creation of Prosegur Technology & Defense. The company aims to act as a subcontractor for military programs in Spain and other international markets. Prosegur expects this new business line to contribute 25% of Prosegur Security’s revenue—potentially exceeding 700 million euros—within the next two years. The company’s strategic focus includes command and control (C2), interoperability, simulation, artificial intelligence, integrated surveillance, and cybersecurity.
