Defense lawyer for Yves Alexandre Giroux disputes Guepardo case charges
Defense attorney Robinson Reyes has characterized the accusations against Canadian national Yves Alexandre Giroux as ‘unjust’ regarding the ‘Operación Guepardo’ investigation in the Dominican Republic. The Public Ministry has linked Giroux to a real estate fraud network involving the company Novasco Real Estate, SRL, alleging money laundering and illicit enrichment.
Reyes argues that Giroux had separated from his former partner, Loany Lismeiry Ortiz Nova—identified as a suspected leader of the network—and had disconnected from the company months before the judicial actions in question. While acknowledging Giroux previously held a 50% stake in the firm, the defense maintains he did not manage finances, administer accounts, or authorize disbursements.
The legal team claims the prosecution included assets acquired years before the investigation began and has warned that the Dominican State could face a lawsuit for damages if the case proceeds without sufficient evidence.
