Defense technology advances in anti-drone and air offensive systems
European and American defense sectors are advancing new technologies to address evolving aerial threats. In Germany, Rheinmetall is developing the Boxer Skyranger 30, a short-range mobile anti-aircraft vehicle. It utilizes a 30mm KCE revolver cannon with AHEAD programmable ammunition designed to destroy small drones via a controlled fragmentation pattern, reducing the need for expensive guided missiles. Production is expected between 2027 and 2028.
Simultaneously, Spain is modernizing its offensive air capabilities. The Spanish Air and Space Force is focusing on integrating sophisticated weaponry with platforms like the Eurofighter Halcón and future FCAS systems. Key components include the TAURUS KEPD 350 cruise missile for long-range strategic strikes. Spanish companies, such as Sener, are playing critical roles in the integration, maintenance, and development of these advanced systems to bolster industrial autonomy.
