Defensoría de los Habitantes to hold community outreach in seven locations
To celebrate its 33rd anniversary, the Defensoría de los Habitantes will hold an open-door event on Tuesday, October 20, to provide free guidance and receive complaints regarding public services. From 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., staff will be stationed in seven different locations across the country to assist citizens with inquiries about their rights, how to file formal complaints, and the legal response times required from public entities.
The outreach locations include Parque Morazán in San José, the Defensoría’s central offices in Barrio México, the main esplanade of Hospital Monseñor Sanabria in Puntarenas Centro, Parque Balvanero Vargas in Limón, Parque Medardo Guido Acevedo in Bagaces, the Central Park of Buenos Aires in Puntarenas, and the San Miguel de Sarapiquí community hall.
Defensora Angie Cruickshank Lambert stated that the initiative aims to strengthen the institution's connection with citizens and ensure people know they can seek orientation when they feel a public entity is not providing an adequate response.
