DeFi sector sees $6 billion inflow and lending rebound in July
In July, decentralized finance (DeFi) recorded a strong resurgence, adding roughly $6 billion of new capital and pushing total value locked (TVL) to about $74.9 billion, up from $68 billion at the start of the month. Active loans on DeFi lending platforms grew 7.2% to $22.2 billion, with Aave leading the market at $11 billion and holding a 46.2% share, while Morpho together with Aave accounted for roughly two‑thirds of all outstanding DeFi loans.
Uniswap, the leading automated market maker, expanded its multichain presence, reporting higher trading volumes on the Robinhood chain and on Base, a Coinbase‑linked network, marking a shift from its traditional Ethereum‑centric activity. Overall decentralized exchange (DEX) trading volume exceeded $169 billion in July. Crypto asset prices also rose, with Ethereum up 20.3% and Bitcoin up 9.0% during the month. Despite the activity boost, stablecoin supply contracted 0.6% to about $312 billion, reflecting limited new inflows.
The data suggest renewed investor interest in DeFi projects after a period of contraction, though broader liquidity remains cautious.
