DeFiLlama delays mobile app launch due to Apple App Store phishing apps
DeFiLlama has delayed the launch of its official mobile application for several months to protect users from phishing scams. The company’s pseudonymous founder, 0xngmi, reported that malicious apps impersonating the analytics provider were present on the Apple App Store.
According to the founder, the team spent months attempting to have these fraudulent apps removed for trademark violations and impersonation without success. The situation changed only after the DeFiLlama team documented a specific malicious app draining funds from a small test wallet and provided that evidence to Apple. Following this report, the fake app was removed within days.
DeFiLlama decided to postpone its own official launch until all impersonating applications were cleared from the store to prevent users from being scammed. While the official iOS app was released on June 5, the company noted that the delay was a necessary precaution to ensure platform integrity.
