Defne Turaç appointed General Manager of İş Sanat

After a 35‑year tenure at İş Sanat, the cultural arm of Türkiye İş Bankası, founder and former General Manager Zuhal Üreten retired. During her career she oversaw corporate communication, public relations, social responsibility projects and directed the establishment of several bank museums, including the Türkiye İş Bankası Museum (2007), the Economic Independence Museum (2019) and the Painting and Sculpture Museum (2023).

Defne Turaç, who has served as İş Sanat’s Artistic Director since 2018, was named the new General Manager. Turaç holds a degree from Middle East Technical University, graduated from Istanbul University State Conservatory, and earned a master’s in music theory. Her background spans academia, stage management and production, and she has helped plan and execute hundreds of projects ranging from classical music concerts to interdisciplinary events.

The leadership change is presented as a continuation of the institution’s institutional memory, aiming to sustain and expand its contributions to Turkey’s cultural and artistic landscape.
