Dehradun court orders probe into police bribery allegations

A court in Dehradun has ordered an investigation into allegations of a bribery conspiracy involving potential payments to influence police officials. The order, issued by a special judge, seeks to identify the source of the funds, the nature of the payments, and whether any public servants were involved in the scheme.

The investigation follows claims that individuals demanded between Rs 20-25 lakh to influence police actions. In one reported instance, a complainant allegedly paid Rs two lakh, after which police recovered approximately Rs 1.75 lakh. The court has directed the police to integrate these bribery allegations into existing investigations and submit a formal report.
