Dehradun police investigate property fraud allegations against ex-minister's wife

Dehradun police have launched an investigation into allegations of property fraud involving Jasveer Kaur Anand, also known as Sonia Anand Rawat, the wife of former Uttarakhand minister Harak Singh Rawat.

The investigation follows a complaint by Hariom Sehgal, an elderly differently-abled man, who alleges he was cheated of Rs 43.2 lakh during a 2021 property transaction. Sehgal claims he sold his property for Rs 56 lakh but received only Rs 12.8 lakh, asserting that cheques issued for the remaining balance were dishonoured.

In addition to the financial dispute, the complainant alleged that he was physically assaulted, threatened with death, and forcibly removed from his home in 2022. Dehradun Senior Superintendent of Police Pramendra Dobhal has assigned the Superintendent of Police (City) to conduct a thorough inquiry. Officials stated that legal action will be taken if the allegations are substantiated, emphasizing that the law applies equally to all regardless of political connections.
