DEI Renewable expands into Hungary with 57.5 MW solar park and 49 MW battery project

Greek power group DEI’s renewable subsidiary, DEI Renewable, signed an agreement with the Greenvolt platform, backed by KKR, to acquire a 57.5 MW photovoltaic park in Királyegyháza, southern Hungary, and obtain rights to develop a 49 MW battery energy storage system (four‑hour capacity). The solar facility began commercial operation in July 2024 under a 25‑year state‑supported fixed‑price contract. The transaction marks DEI’s first entry into Hungary’s rapidly growing clean‑energy market and implements the first concrete step of its 2026‑2030 development strategy, which envisions €24 billion of investments and an almost doubling of total installed capacity by 2030. The expansion supports DEI’s plan for a regional renewable‑energy platform covering Greece, Romania, Italy, Bulgaria, Croatia and now Central and South‑Eastern Europe.
