Deijae Jester sentenced to four years for smuggling fentanyl into LA juvenile hall
Deijae Devon Jester, the individual convicted of the 2020 murder of rapper Pop Smoke, has been sentenced to four years in prison for smuggling fentanyl into a Los Angeles juvenile detention facility.
Jester, 21, pleaded no contest to three felony counts, including possession for sale of a controlled substance and bringing contraband into a jail or juvenile hall. The charges stem from a December 2025 incident at Barry J. Nidorf Juvenile Hall, where authorities allege Jester’s mother, Nickia Tyonia Randall, attempted to pass him fentanyl-laced pills hidden inside latex balls during a visit. Investigators recovered one of the balls containing 25 pills.
While Jester was originally serving a juvenile sentence for the homicide of Bashar Jackson (Pop Smoke), this new sentence is expected to transfer him from the juvenile system to adult custody. Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman stated that Jester failed to embrace the opportunity for rehabilitation afforded to him as a juvenile. Randall also faces three felony counts related to the smuggling attempt and remains at large.
