Deion Sanders explains benching Julian Lewis in Colorado loss to Baylor

Colorado head football coach Deion Sanders addressed his decision to bench starting quarterback Julian Lewis during the team's 23-13 loss to Baylor. Sanders replaced Lewis with Utah transfer Isaac Wilson at halftime to attempt to spark the offense after the team struggled to score in the first half.

Sanders stated he took responsibility for the move, noting that the decision was made to try and get the team moving and scoring. While Lewis completed 11 of 16 passes for 75 yards, Wilson provided more offensive production, finishing with 156 passing yards and a touchdown.

Despite the performance from Wilson, Colorado fell to a 2-2 record. Sanders expressed belief that the team is performing better than the score indicates, though he noted the need to understand why results have not matched their perceived level of play. The Buffaloes face upcoming games against Texas Tech and Utah.
