Dejan Jovanov offers 200,000 euro property guarantee to avoid detention

Dejan Jovanov, the primary accused in the legal proceedings regarding the fatal Pulse nightclub fire in Kočani, has offered real estate valued at approximately 200,000 euros as a guarantee to avoid continued detention. The offer aims to assure the court and the public that he will not flee the country.

Jovanov is currently the only defendant in the case still held in prison detention. His legal team noted that his current detention period is set to expire on October 3. The court must now decide whether the offered property, potentially combined with other precautionary measures, is sufficient to ensure his presence at future proceedings.

The nightclub fire, which occurred on March 16, 2025, resulted in 63 deaths and more than 200 injuries. The ongoing trial involves 34 individuals and three legal entities. While the defense disputes claims of intentionality, the families of the victims continue to demand accountability and an efficient judicial process.
