Balkan political leaders intensify election rhetoric across the region
Political tensions are escalating across the Balkans ahead of upcoming elections. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, Democratic Front candidate Slaven Kovačević has declared that there will be no pardon for Milorad Dodik and has strongly opposed any attempts to relocate the Presidency offices based on ethnic lines.
Željko Komšić has called for the unification of pro-Bosnian political forces to counter the influence of the HDZ and SNSD. Meanwhile, in Trebinje, Milorad Dodik expressed confidence in the victory of SNSD candidates Savo Minić and Željka Cvijanović, while claiming that infrastructure projects like a congress center and airport are being blocked by authorities in Sarajevo.
In Serbia, opposition leader Dragan Djilas criticized President Aleksandar Vučić, claiming he has ‘formally given up on Europe’ following the Serbian Progressive Party’s coalition with the Serbian Radical Party. In Montenegro, Andrija Mandić expressed support for the future of the Nova Srpska Demokratija party, emphasizing its commitment to stability and European integration.
