Dekra adds Sunday vehicle inspections in Costa Rica and reports 30% of Spanish cars miss ITV

Dekra announced that on Sunday, 19 July, seven of its stations in Costa Rica will operate special hours for vehicle technical inspections. The locations – Heredia, Alajuela, Alajuelita, Pérez Zeledón, Guápiles, Nicoya and Ciudad Neily – will be open from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (Ciudad Neily 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.). Drivers can book appointments online or by calling the service centre.

Separately, Dekra highlighted that 30 % of vehicles required to undergo the Spanish ITV (Inspección Técnica de Vehículos) do not do so. The company warned that most serious defects involve lighting, tyres and brakes, increasing the risk of accidents, especially during the summer travel period. Dekra urges owners to perform preventive checks and keep their vehicles in good condition year‑round.
