Del Mar summer meet features Grade 1 championship races

The Del Mar summer racing meet features several high-stakes Grade 1 races. In the 76th edition of the Grade 1 Del Mar Debutante, a seven-furlong race for two-year-old fillies with a $300,000 purse, Miss Monica is the morning-line favorite. Trained by Bob Baffert and ridden by Juan Hernandez, Miss Monica is a daughter of Early Voting. Baffert also has Holmby entered in the race.

The Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity features a five-horse field. Hughes, an Into Mischief colt trained by Bob Baffert, is the heavy favorite following two dominant wins. Other contenders include Doug O’Neill-trained horses Phone Booth, High Pronto, and Dang Son. The racing card also includes the Grade 3 Del Mar Juvenile Turf and the Tranquility Lake Stakes.
