Delain announces vocalist departure and shift to musical collective

Dutch symphonic metal band Delain has announced the departure of vocalist Diana Leah. Leah, who joined the group in 2022 and recorded the 2023 album ‘Dark Waters’, is leaving to focus on her solo project, DYYA.

Rather than seeking a permanent replacement, Delain is transitioning into a musical collective. Founder and songwriter Martijn Westerholt will remain the central figure alongside core members Ludovico Cioffi, Ronald Landa, and Sander Zoer. The new format will feature a rotating cast of guest vocalists and musicians for both studio recordings and live performances.

To mark this new era, the band released a new single, ‘We Are Fire’, featuring Fabienne Erni, Noa Gruman, and Paolo Ribaldini. Other confirmed collaborators for upcoming projects include Marko Hietala, Sharon den Adel of Within Temptation, Anneke van Giersbergen, and Patty Gurdy. This shift returns the band to its collaborative roots, mirroring the spirit of their 2006 debut album, ‘Lucidity’.
