Delaware DNREC announces community water quality improvement grants

The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) is inviting project proposals for its Community Water Quality Improvement Grants program. Eligible applicants include Delaware nonprofit organizations, conservation districts, community organizations, and homeowners’ associations.

Funding for projects in this cycle is expected to range between $25,000 and $75,000. The submission deadline is October 30. Applicants are permitted to submit up to two project proposals per grant cycle. Projects recommended by DNREC staff through a competitive process will be presented to the Delaware Water Infrastructure Advisory Council.

The grants aim to support programs that improve water quality on developed lands using innovative and sustainable methods. Eligible projects may involve enhancing or restoring water quality in impaired watersheds, community stormwater management improvements, or voluntary pollution control strategies. Past recipients have implemented initiatives such as green roof installations, living shorelines, and stream bank restorations.
