Delaware holds state primary elections for Senate and House seats

Delaware is holding its state primary election on Tuesday, with polls open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. The election features several key races, including the Democratic primary for U.S. Senator, where incumbent Chris Coons faces challengers Jeff Appelhans, Mary Louve, and E. No-Trump Hansen.

In the Republican primary for U.S. Senate, Michael Katz and John Shulli are competing for the nomination. Democratic U.S. Representative Sarah McBride is running unopposed in her primary, while several Republicans are vying to face her in the general election.

Other significant contests include the race for State Attorney General, where incumbent Kathy Jennings faces challenges from Dwayne Bensing and Patty Rickman, and an open race for State Treasurer following the decision by incumbent Colleen Davis not to seek a third term.

Voters must be registered with their respective parties to participate in their specific primaries. As of recent tallies, over 38,000 Delawareans have already cast ballots through early or absentee voting.
