Delaware man charged with vehicular homicide in fatal motorcycle crash

A 42-year-old man from New Castle, Delaware, has been charged with vehicular homicide and driving under the influence following a fatal motorcycle collision on August 15, 2026.

According to Delaware State Police, the incident occurred around 10:50 p.m. on U.S. Route 13 near Schafer Boulevard. Investigators determined that a Mazda 6, driven by Samuel Larkin, failed to stop and struck an Indian Scout motorcycle traveling northbound. The motorcyclist, a 54-year-old woman from New Castle, was transported to a hospital where she later died.

Larkin was taken into custody after showing signs of impairment. He faces second-degree vehicular homicide charges involving driving under the influence and negligently causing death, as well as driving under the influence of alcohol and failure to stop at a stop sign. He was arraigned and committed to the Delaware Department of Correction on a $5,101 secured bond.
