Delaware State defeats Stony Brook in season opener

Delaware State secured a 41-34 victory over Stony Brook in their season opener at Alumni Stadium on Thursday night. The game was briefly delayed before kickoff due to lightning in the area.

In his debut as the starting quarterback, senior transfer Ui Ale led the Hornets' offense, including a 72-yard touchdown pass to Jaylin Terzado and a 16-yard rushing touchdown. Backup quarterback Samari Collier also contributed with a 59-yard touchdown run. Despite a second-half rally by Stony Brook that cut an 18-point deficit, Delaware State held on after a 16-yard touchdown run by Sean Weston late in the fourth quarter.

The win improves Delaware State head coach DeSean Jackson’s overall coaching record to 9-4.
