Delcomar launches Franco DG ferry to boost La Maddalena‑Palau link

Delcomar introduced the new ferry Franco DG on the La Maddalena‑Palau route in a ceremony at La Maddalena attended by company executives, local officials and national politicians. President Franco Del Giudice presented the vessel together with his children Sara and Enzo, while mayor Fabio Lai, senator Ettore Licheri, deputy Salvatore Deidda, admiral Gianfranco Annunziata and Assarmatori president Stefano Messina were also present.

The 93‑meter long, 18‑meter wide ship can carry up to 450 passengers and about 120 cars, travel at speeds above 14 knots and is powered by four main engines with four azimuth thrusters, offering high manoeuvrability and a lower environmental impact. Previously used only briefly in Greece since its 2018 launch, the vessel is described as practically new. Delcomar says the ferry will alleviate peak‑hour congestion on the route, which serves roughly one million travellers annually, and will provide faster loading and unloading for both residents and tourists.
