Venezuelan Guard National Bolivariana marks 89th anniversary, pledges loyalty to President Delcy Rodríguez

On 4 August 2026 the Guardía Nacional Bolivariana (GNB) celebrated its 89th anniversary. Commander Juan Sulbarán (also cited as Juan Ernesto Sulbarán) issued a statement urging all members to remain loyal to Delcy Rodríguez, referring to her as President of the Republic. The ceremony included the inauguration of new health facilities at the GNB’s central medical centre and the delivery of motorcycles and trucks to improve operational capacity.

President (acting) Delcy Rodríguez also oversaw the continuation of the Plan Venezuela Renace, reporting the delivery of more than 13 000 homes to families affected by recent earthquakes, benefitting roughly 66 000 people. Inspections of 47 369 dwellings showed 58 % rated safe, 23 % needing remediation and 19 % classified as high‑risk.

In the western state of Zulia, the Comando Unificado activated a strategic plan to mitigate the “Super Niño” climate phenomenon, focusing on reservoir monitoring, forest‑fire prevention, electricity system maintenance, energy‑saving measures and thermal‑power generation.
