Venezuela reaches agreement to recover gold reserves from England
Venezuela's acting president Delcy Rodríguez announced agreements reached during the first cycle of dialogue between the national government and representatives of the 2015 National Assembly. A primary outcome of these talks is the plan to recover Venezuelan gold reserves currently held at the Bank of England.
To ensure transparency and prevent corruption, the recovered funds will be deposited into accounts managed by the U.S. Department of the Treasury and subject to permanent auditing by international firms. The resources are earmarked for the reconstruction of housing, schools, and health centers in areas devastated by the double earthquake that occurred on June 24.
In a separate activity, Rodríguez inspected Metalblanc, a metallurgical plant in Catia, to promote local entrepreneurship and industrial development. She emphasized the importance of using Venezuelan raw materials to strengthen national sovereignty and economic growth.
